PART TEN – AI and the New ‘Stargate Project’
AI adoption is accelerating.
Between February 2023 and February 2024, 4.6% of businesses integrated AI into their operations. The highest adoption rates were among companies with 250+ employees (6.3%) and the smallest businesses with fewer than five employees (5.0%). This trend is set to grow, with 6.6% of businesses planning to implement AI within the next six months.
Now, a groundbreaking initiative—The Stargate Project—aims to supercharge AI infrastructure in the U.S.
What is the Stargate Project?
According to OpenAI, The Stargate Project is a massive investment initiative, committing $500 billion over the next four years to build cutting-edge AI infrastructure. The first $100 billion is being deployed immediately, with goals to:
✅ Strengthen U.S. AI leadership
✅ Create hundreds of thousands of jobs
✅ Drive global economic growth
✅ Enhance national security
Who’s Behind It?
The project’s initial equity funders include SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX, with SoftBank providing financial backing and OpenAI leading operations. Masayoshi Son will serve as chairman.
Key technology partners include Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI. The first buildout is already underway in Texas, with additional campuses under evaluation across the U.S.
A New Era for AI Development
This initiative builds on long-standing partnerships, including OpenAI’s deep collaboration with NVIDIA (since 2016) and its growing work with Microsoft and Oracle. As OpenAI continues expanding its use of Azure, this new infrastructure will help train advanced AI models and deliver transformative products and services.
At its core, The Stargate Project is about more than just AI—it’s about unlocking the future and finding ways to elevate humanity through technology.
